Who we are
Little Word is run by kinswell.nz, based in New Zealand. We're responsible for the personal information described here. Questions or requests: noreply@kinswell.nz.
What we collect
Your puzzle progress
Which puzzles you've finished, how many hints you used, whether you revealed an answer and how long each took are saved in your own browser (in its local storage, under “lw_progress”). We don't keep a copy.
When you check an answer or take a hint, your browser sends that day's progress and your guess to our server so it can check the answer without showing it to you first. The server sends the updated progress back to your browser and doesn't store it, or your guess, anywhere. Progress isn't linked to your name, email or anything else about you.
Technical information
Like any website, our hosting provider automatically records basic request details, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These are used to keep the site running and secure.
What we don't collect
No accounts, names, email addresses, contacts or precise location. When you share your result, the text is made on your device and shared by you; we don't see where it goes. Our fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page doesn't contact font services either.
How we use it
- To run the game: check answers, save your place in your browser, fill in your archive, and time your share result.
- To keep the site working and secure, using the hosting logs described above.
If you're in the UK or EU: we rely on our legitimate interest in running the game you asked to play, and on your consent for anything optional.
Who we share it with
Only the company that hosts the site, which processes it on our behalf: Cloudflare (USA), from its data centres worldwide. Nobody else. We don't sell personal information or share it for advertising.
We sometimes use AI tools to help write puzzles. They never receive anything about players.
How long we keep it
We don't keep your puzzle progress at all: it stays in your browser until you clear it or delete it below. Hosting logs are kept for the short period our hosting provider uses.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by emailing noreply@kinswell.nz. We don't hold your puzzle progress, so the way to delete it is the button below: it clears it from this browser instantly.
You can also complain to your privacy regulator, for example the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand, the ICO in the UK, or your local data protection authority in the EU. Clearing this site's data in your browser also starts you afresh.
Children
Little Word is fine for all ages, but it isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information about them.
Changes
If we change how we use information, for example by adding accounts, analytics or ads, we'll update this page first and change the date at the top.
